Listing Limits for 12 Marketplaces

Every marketplace sets its own rules for how long a title can be and how many tags you get. They change without much notice, and the numbers in old blog posts are often out of date.

Each number here links to the marketplace's own help page, and each row shows when we last checked it. If we could not find a number on the marketplace's own site, we say “Not listed” instead of guessing.

How We Check These

Every limit on this page lives in one file in MerchYak's code. The same numbers steer what MerchYak writes for each marketplace and check what it produces, so if a number here were wrong, our own listings would be wrong too.

Each marketplace carries the date a person last opened its rules page and compared. An automatic check flags any marketplace we have not re-checked in six months, and it runs on every change we make to the site.

We only publish a number when we could read it on the marketplace's own site. Blog posts and other tools do not count, even when they agree. Spotted something out of date? Email support@merchyak.com and we will re-check it.

Why the Numbers Differ

Marketplaces disagree about titles. Etsy asks for short, plain titles that say what the item is (see Etsy's five title rules). eBay gives you 80 characters, Zazzle gives you 50, and Amazon's US limit is 75. One title rarely fits everywhere.

Tags differ even more. Etsy gives you 13 tag slots. Poshmark gives you 3 style tags. TikTok Shop has no tag field at all, so its keywords have to live in the title, the description and the category you pick.

If You Sell in More Than One Place

MerchYak writes the title, description, tags, FAQ and alt text for each marketplace you pick, from the same product photos, and keeps each one inside the limits on this page. You can see finished examples without signing up. Trying it on your own product starts at $3, paid once, for about 4 projects.
